"City Hall has approved all the paper work and they were excited about our design, that's wonderful news Drew," I told the designer. "No, you don't have to worry about hiring any contractors I'll take care of all that by myself. I've got three weddings to plan and I want to make sure everything is perfect."
I went down to the study as soon as I got off the phone with Drew to review our plans before I worked my magic to build the venue for the weddings. This new park was sure to get the mopey folk of Cornucopia in the mood for love.
A few cherry trees here, heart shaped fountains there, and a hefty dash of style, beauty, and romance all over. Voila, Wedding Meadows is finished and ready to go. I know the children are going to just love it.
Since Wendi would soon be apart of the family the whole Divine clan attended her graduation. After the ceremony I took Alcander and Wendi aside to invite her to come stay in the temple with us until she and Alcander found a house after their wedding.
She agreed and made fast friends with Calictus and Cyrena, or the pups as she called them. As it turns out Wendi's father was a werewolf and part of Davin's pack so she had plenty of experience with werewolves.
Wendi jumped at the chance to help out with the twins at every opportunity. She was very family-oriented but had grown up an only child. Playing with dolls and blocks with a little brother and sister was a dream come true even if the little brother and sister would soon be her in-laws.
After Wendi was settled in her room at the temple plans for the bachelor, bachelorette, and wedding parties were at full speed. Alcander ran into Davin while filing all the necessary paper work for the upcoming wedding.
"Hey Davin, how's it going?"
"Hey Alcander! Things are really beginning to take a turn for the better. Since the twins were born they've really inspired me to improve my sculpting and I've decided to make it into a career. But enough about me. I heard the big news, Wendi really liked the stone then. Congratulations on graduating with honors and the engagement."
"Thank you for helping me find the pink diamond. Having you, the pack, and my old scout buddies help with the search really helped me get it made into an engagement ring just in time. I would have been an old man by the time I found one on my own. You and the pack are all coming to the ceremony right?"
"Are you kidding me?" Davin exclaimed before pulling Alcander into a bear hug. "This is the wedding of my pack mate's daughter and my pup's big brother. You couldn't keep us away."
With all the adults running mad with wedding and party plans the twins enjoyed some much needed play time.
Since becoming self-employed Alcander's become quite skilled at the art of multitasking. I've seen him take calls for art commissions while changing diapers and paint masterpieces with a baby on the hip. The most adorable thing I've seen him do by far is incorporate the twins finger painting into one of his brilliant pieces.
The darling even saved me the trouble of having to find a baby sitter by volunteering to watch the twins so the girls and I could have a day out before the bachelorette party. I'd been having a hard time getting another sitter to set foot in the house since that incident with Bonehilda. Someone had actually had the nerve to spread the rumor that Bonehilda was the reanimated corpse of one of the Matchmaker sisters.
"Hey mom, I'm so glad you could make it out today! This is Aphrodite, Alcander's mother and his sisters Alena and Alesia."
Wendi's mother had been unable to make it to her graduation so I was completely taken by surprise when she showed up at the salon for our girls day out. I thought since Wendi was human the same would be true for her mother. Had I known she was a vampire I would have arranged for a girls night out instead.
"Oh sweetie, I couldn't miss out on this and graduation."
"Its a pleasure to finally meet you Mrs. Kidd. I'm sorry about bringing you out in the daylight. Had I known you where a vampire I would have arranged for a get together in the evening."
"Oh call me Doreen, our children are getting married after all. My turning was fairly recent. I've decided to start a non-fiction novel on vampires so I'm doing research. It is getting awfully hot out here though so I'm going to run inside. Wendi could you be a dear and grab my parasol from my car on the way in," Doreen said before dashing into the salon at super speed.
Shortly after Doreen went inside the stylist came out to inform us that we had the salon to ourselves for the day. He had cleared the schedule for the day when he saw the name Divine in the appointment book. He was a cutie so I made a mental note to come and see him again at a later time. Today was Wendi's day and I wanted to make sure she enjoyed it to the fullest.
The dress Wendi picked was gorgeous and she didn't know it yet but it would go beautifully with the setting at the wedding venue.
I got a little makeover for myself from the stylist free of charge. He gave me his business card with his personal number on it as we were leaving. I loved the dress he picked for me to wear to the bachelorette party. He would defiantly be helping me with a full wardrobe change in the future.
Alena laid out a wonderful spread for the party just before the guests arrived. The food looked as good as the guests and we couldn't wait to dig in.
Once everyone had their fill of Alana's delicious food Jasmine, Wendi's maid of honor announced she had arranged for a feast for the eyes as entertainment. The lights in the room blinked out for a second and when they came back on the two dancers Albert and Stan were in the spotlights.
"Are you ladies ready to feast your eyes?"
The room erupted with cheers and whistles loud enough to make me glad that Blasius and the twins were spending the night with their fathers.
Wendi was in shock that her best friend had hired not one but two dancers for her bachelorette party.
She had a hard time getting into the entertainment with her mother in attendance so I happily took her place.
"Doreen you come over here and help me show these young bucks some real dance moves."
The party ended up lasting well into the early hours of the morning. Wendi and Doreen proved to be a couple of party animals. Doreen's new found vampire powers allowed her to do some dance moves in high heels that even I would think twice about.
Alcander had opted to host his bachelor party at the Blue Moon Tiki Bar the following morning. When we were making plans for the parities he'd said he didn't want to disturb a house of sleeping beauties after a night of fun.
As Alcander opened up a bar tab for the party a haze of purple smoke filled the room as Octavio and the party guests appeared.
"Hello my son! I brought friends, cheerleaders, and egg rolls."
"Hey hey Alcander! Congratulations buddy! Where's the nectar?"
"Thanks for coming to celebrate with me everyone. There's an open tab at the bar so get whatever you want. Dad would you do the honors and make a toast before it gets too rowdy in here?"
"Of course," Octavio replied.
"Gather around everyone it is time to make the toast!"
"We are here today to celebrate with my wonderful son Alcander."
"He has found the woman he wishes to spend the rest of his days with and she has accepted his proposal of marriage. I am honored to be here to witness this new stage in your life Alcander."
"I love you and I am very very proud of you my son. Congratulations from me and everyone here today."
Alcander was filled with joy at his father's heartfelt toast and eveyrone's happiness for his upcoming union with Wendi.
"In honor of this special occasion I got a special bottle of fizzy nectar just for you Alcander," Octavio said excitedly.
"I read that the spraying of the nectar is a common tradition at these parties."
"No, Dad don't this top hat is rented," Alcander shouted but it was already too late.
The party guests all chuckled at his attempts to dodge the spray. In the end he was soaked to the skin and Octavio promised to replace the hat.
After the toast the cheerleaders turned on their stereo and started dancing to get the party started.
A dance off of father and son versus the cheerleaders soon started.
"Excellent moves Alcander! Show them how its done son!"
The nectar severed at the bar was excellent in quality and gave all in attendance a high mood boost.
What else but really good nectar could have given Octavio and Alcander the confidence to try and "school" a couple of professional dancers with those moves?
After their battle on the dance floor Alcander and Octavio were dubbed the Blue Man Two.
Octavio and Wendi's father Dylan became fast friends during the celebration.
The guys took full advantage of the open bar tab.
There was even some serious flirting going on with one of the cheerleaders and Alcander's friend. I know I will be rooting for them.
After their respective parties the lovers reunited for a night under the starts. Tomorrow after the birhtday party for Blasius and the twins Wendi was going to her parent's until their wedding day. They wouldn't see each other until they said "I do" under the wedding arch.
"Do you want to watch the stars with me before you go to bed Wendi?"
"You know I do. What girl would turn down a romantic evening with one half of the famous Blue Man Two?"
"Ha ha," Alcander chuckled scratching his head. "You heard about that huh?"
"Heard about it? Pierre recorded it on his cell phone. You and your dad have got some smooth dance moves. I can't wait to see them at the wedding reception."
"Ah Pierre," Alcander groaned. "I thought scouts were supposed always help one another not embarrass each other."
Wendi laughed and did a comical imitation of Alcander's dance moves until he pulled her into and kiss and drew her down to the ground with him.
"In less than two days I'll have my Starlit Beauty as my wife, a house of our own, and a flourishing painting career." Alcander sighed contentedly "I don't think my life could be any more perfect."
Wendi smiled sweetly and kissed him on the cheek. "I think I can one up you on that because soon I'm going to be living with my very own Blue Man Two."
